Vancouver, BC, March 21, 2025 – Brivia Group is pleased to announce an update to the CURV project, located at the corner of Nelson and Thurlow streets in Vancouver. The development, which is set to be the world’s tallest Passive House building, will now include more market rental units in response to the growing housing demand in the area.
In November 2024, the City of Vancouver approved amendments to the West End Community Plan’s Social Housing policy, allowing for more flexible contributions to meeting social housing needs. As part of this strategy, Brivia Group will contribute $55 million to the City of Vancouver’s affordable housing initiatives through the Cash-In-Lieu (CIL) program. This contribution will support the development of off-site social housing in areas where it is most needed, aligning with the City’s broader planning strategy in a more effective and adaptive manner, and continuing Brivia’s commitment to sustainable development.
Supporting the Community and Long-Term Sustainability
The decision to increase the number of market rental residences reflects Vancouver’s evolving housing demands and helps create a more balanced mix of housing types. This update will provide additional rental options while still supporting the City’s affordable housing goals through the financial contribution to the CIL program.
“CURV is designed to be a sustainable and responsible development for Vancouver,” said Kheng Ly, President and CEO of Brivia Group. “This update to the housing mix allows us to contribute meaningfully to the city’s housing needs while ensuring the long-term success of the project.”
Commitment to Thoughtful Urban Growth
This update demonstrates Brivia Group’s commitment to fostering balanced urban development. By adding market rental units and contributing to off-site social housing, Brivia is supporting the extensive goal of creating sustainable and well-integrated communities. The CURV development will continue to meet high standards for sustainability and design, positively contributing to Vancouver’s residential market.
